JERUSALEM, Jan 27 — Protesters against COVID-19 measures who liken themselves to Jews under Nazi persecution are stoking global anti-Semitism, the Israeli government said in a report marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Such Holocaust tropes have become “widespread” and, along with violent demonstrations linked to Israel’s May war in Gaza, were main factors behind physical or online attacks on Jews in Europe and North America last year, said the 152-page report by the Diaspora Affairs Ministry.
Several U.S. and British politicians have in recent months apologized after suggesting vaccine or lockdown policies recalled Hitler’s regime.
Some demonstrators against pandemic curbs have worn yellow stars like those the Nazis forced on European Jews.
Such displays showed factual knowledge of the genocide was eroding, the report said, adding that some COVID-19 agitators have been “consuming and disseminating anti-Semitic conspiracy theories that Jews are responsible for the crisis and are using it for oppression, global domination, economic gain, etc”.
Expanding on the findings, Diaspora Affairs Minister Nachman Shai said Holocaust distortion or trivialisation is itself anti-Semitic and can sometimes lead to actual endangerment of Jews.
“There are people so fraught with hate who can, when faced with such imagery, be tipped over into action,” he told Reuters.
The Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM), a U.S.-based non-profit, said that in 2020 and 2021 it had found 63.7 million engagements — participation, sharing or “liking” – during online discussions linking the pandemic to the Holocaust.
Yad Vashem, Israel’s main Holocaust memorial, has urged world leaders to come out against such discourse — a call apparently heeded by U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who on Monday said the yellow star protests were “reprehensible”.
“COVID brought Holocaust trivialisation to a summit,” said Yad Vashem chairman Dani Dayan. “Things like that, sometimes done by politicians, by public figures, are despicable and Yad Vashem is very clear in demanding those persons retract.”
Former Israeli Chief Rabbi Israel Meir Lau, whose parents and brother were among the six million Jews killed by the Nazis and who himself survived a concentration camp as a child, had a more personal appeal during a Reuters interview.
“Please leave the word ‘Holocaust’ for the Holocaust — and nothing but it,” he said.

A pandemic is mass murder by a virus. That indeed qualifies as a holocaust. Jews don’t own the word holocaust. Perhaps because they stay separate, they don’t learn from other peoples and events and new ways to use old words. They don’t evolve as they should naturally by being a part of a whole – planet.
Mass murder – enslavement, torture and slaughter of non-human animals is a holocaust.
The reason many world citizens ask questions about the Jew holocaust, is that Jews keep reminding the world of it, exploiting their past that they force the world to view – it’s everywhere from the news to movies. Because answers have been denied and hidden, leads normal people to assume a cover-up of the reality on the ground at least in part is in play by the Jews themselves.
They build holocaust museums everywhere to make people feel uncomfortable with a past that wasn’t theirs, so they can keep on with their expansion plans in the Middle East in payment for being holocausted. They frighten people with their anger and revenge disproportionate to the perceived offense.
The real haters of the world are the Jews who hate everyone not a Jew.
Jews don’t own the word holocaust. There is such a thing as a holocaust of one. Maybe recognize the suffering of others and you will not appear so arrogant with all your Jewish supremacy talking down to the rest of the world.
The pandemic is a holocaust and anyone not participating in stopping the spread of the holocaust contributes to it.
The massive raise-to-slaughter industries around the planet are the one and only true Holocaust. Hitler was stopped, the pandemic will end when it runs its course and scientists stop messing with super-powering viruses to turn them into biological weapons. There is no mass effort to stop the holocaust of every species on earth by the human species.
Don’t start lecturing the people on what is a holocaust and what isn’t. Step out of the cave you secluded yourselves in, the world is no longer accepting lies that manipulate and control the lives of others.
Stand down if you don’t want to evolve, but don’t block the evolution of those who do.
Revisit the word anti-Semitic and leave out the Arabs in your fight against the world. People have a right to dislike anyone they want to dislike, just as Jews avoid coming in contact with non-Jews. What do you call it when Jews do that? Nothing? That’s just Jews being Jews? So you clump all non-Jews together in one prejudicial turned to discriminatory act – except to do business of course.
Walk out of your cave. Your incessant screams that somebody’s out to get you, when it’s members of your own tribe, has finally begun to reverse course. Go ahead, drop a bomb on a bunch of unsuspecting Syrians or Gazans in retribution to get your way. The world lets you do it. Why? They’re waiting for the world to take action so they don’t have to suffer the effects of what you do to people’s families when you don’t get your way.
Go ahead, keep it up – your holocaust talk and your museums designed to hurt people, go ahead, the tide has already turned and it doesn’t matter how many million non-Jews or traitor Jews you kill.
Can you imagine what others think of the Jews demanding to write the history books for other countries and keep their financial books? How controlling is that? Telling them whether they can have a military or not, if you live next door. Do you know how Hitleresque that sounds? You all became Hitler, or you were Hitler from the beginning. Was Hitler a Jew? How oppressive to take charge of the entire world, through threats of retribution, if you don’t let the entire world let you oppress the Palestinians to force them to flee their own homes.
You scammed and exploited the world too long. You failed the transparency test miserably.
These aren’t violent protestors. They’re not burning cities and terrorizing neighborhoods and costing taxpayers beyond what they can pay.
You don’t get to decide who is anti-anything. Now if someone in your limited exposure to non-Jews ‘trivializes what happened in World War II or doesn’t totally believe your narrative on what transpired in Nazi sweatshops and how sick people were euthanized, since you kept secret all the records, that does not make them anti-Semitic.
Back up. NOW. You don’t get to decide how non-Jews or traitor Jews can use words.
Maybe we should talk about what the Jews did to the German civilians when the war ended. Round-about two hundred thousand, men, women and children rounded up to let the Jews who wanted to stay behind, tear them from limb to limb like in the old Colosseum days in Rome. Putting one at a time in the middle of a fenced yard, then opening up the door to let the Jews in. That was a frenzied holocaust, they tore at them like wild animals. I wondered why you never used the word barbaric? Then the human carcasses were fed to the German captives.
How about the mass hatred of non-Jews by Jews? Black hatred of non-blacks by Blacks? Indigenous hatred of non-indigenous by indigenous? How about the Muslim hatred of non-Muslims by Muslims?
What it boils down to is this: Those who scream about being hated, are also haters. They do exactly to others what they claim is done to them. Copycat. When you call someone anti-Semitic, that’s hateful. You don’t even know what they are. You can’t stand being criticized, yet you criticize everybody else. But to label a person is exactly what you say others do to you, then call them anti-Semitic.
Stop the name-calling. Stop the threats or implied threats. You’re making the world sicker with all your special needs.
Make your life a living hell? Sound familiar? That comes from you and yours, not me and mine. I am not going to like that you do that, or that you target families like you do, or ruin careers like you do over words that you use yourself.
Your actions are violent. Ruining a career is violent. Since when did you legislate who can like whom or hate whom? Hate is a natural emotion that comes with the human package. Are you trying to strip non-Jews and Jew traitors of their humanity?
You keep saying you don’t care who likes you. Then act it. Stop whining as you enslave, torture and kill native Palestinians on their own land of Palestine. It’s not your land, and it’s not yours to divvy up.
Can’t you see that you’re the trigger?
The world is not going to let you keep doing it, then each time the world discusses it, you charge, convict and sentence them to hell on earth for being anti-Semitic. Most millennials don’t even know what that means.
A Holocaust museum in the land of Palestine honoring all the Palestinians you holocausted is a peaceful answer to the hell you make of everybody’s lives who won’t let you take their land. Well, you took most of it. Are there any Jews working in those factories on those disputed territories?
See, you make it sound Hitleresque by placing Hitler-style factories on those lands, making the Palestinians work them, but not letting them own them.
Your Truth vs Mine
