You know we’ve become a socialist autocratic nation when social media bans people for exercising their free speech rights.
If social media wasn’t funded by paid advertisements there would be no such bans.
Somebody can threaten to kill me and my entire family or urge me to off myself and still be on Facebook under their original name even after reported. Yet, criticize a political party, a religion, or any group and you get the hammer. Defend yourself against their attacks on you and still you get the boot – along with stigmatization for having the courage to speak your truth.
In the case of the USA it isn’t a dictator government to blame, but the dictatorial business cartels that have their boots on the necks of every politician, public official, individual and group with an opinion they think might drive some folks away from the product advertised alongside those words.
• And they threaten your livelihood if you don’t play the political and financial game their way.
Advertisers threaten to withdraw the ads and tank your business or in other cases where Wall Street and Madison Avenue aren’t in play, donors threaten to remove their financial support, always at somebody else’s behest who feels threatened by the truth or simply by the influence people’s opinions have over others.
It has nothing to do with the morality of the content. It is all politically and financially motivated.
In other words, WALL STREET AND MADISON AVENUE are in the political business, as participants in deciding which views are allowed to be published and which are not. Is this communism 101 in America? Thus advertisers who ban content should be required to register as political agents in accordance with and abidance to existing laws and rules governing their self-appointed stewardship over the words of others.
And then it must be determined if constitutional rights regarding intellectual material supersede the advertisement industry’s right to discriminate based on money-making potential in a free market society.
Ruining a person’s career or business to satisfy a client feels too much like extortion. Too Mafia-like. Advertising Cartels do exist – and they are brutal.
THE STREET is what social media has become. To ban free speech in THE STREET is not a sign of a free society, it’s a sign of an oppressed people.
SAVE THE STREET BY BANNING CENSORSHIP. FREEDOM TO BE INCLUDES FREEDOM TO SPEAK YOUR TRUTH. IN YOUR WORDS NOT IN SOMEBODY ELSE’S WORDS.
